The Dew Lab (thedewlab.com) collects as little personal data as it can get away with. This page explains what’s collected, why, and what happens to it.
What this site collects
Contact form. When you use the contact form, your name, email address, and message are stored on this site and emailed to us so we can reply. That data isn’t used for marketing and isn’t shared with anyone else.
Comments. When you leave a comment, the site stores the name and email you enter, the comment itself, and your IP address (used for spam detection). An anonymized hash of your email may be sent to the Gravatar service to check for a profile picture. If you tick the save-my-details box, a cookie remembers your name and email for next time. You can decline it.
Server logs and security. The hosting infrastructure and Cloudflare keep standard access logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) for security and abuse prevention. These rotate automatically.
Analytics. This site currently runs no visitor analytics. If that changes, this page will be updated before anything ships.
Embedded content
Articles may embed content from other sites (YouTube videos, X posts, and similar). Embedded content behaves as if you visited that site directly: it can set its own cookies and track your interaction with the embed. Their privacy policies apply to that content, not this one.
Affiliate links
Outbound affiliate links (Amazon and others) carry a referral tag so the retailer knows the visit came from here. What those retailers collect on their own sites is governed by their privacy policies. Details on the affiliate setup live on the disclosure page.
How long data is kept
Comments and their metadata stay indefinitely so follow-up comments don’t re-enter moderation. Contact form submissions are kept for as long as the conversation needs and periodically cleaned out.
Your rights
If you’ve commented or used the contact form, you can request an export of the personal data this site holds about you, or ask for it to be deleted. That doesn’t cover data we’re required to keep for security or legal reasons. Send requests through the contact form and they’ll be handled within a reasonable time, usually days, not months.
This policy was last updated in July 2026 and gets revised whenever the site starts doing something new with data.
